Disney To Launch Social Virtual World For Parents

Hey Parents! Just when you thought Disney couldn't do any more for families...they suprise us once again with an online social network geared toward parents. While father's are welcome (of course) it is going to be geared toward mothers. Parents will be able to create a personal avatar's as well as one's for the rest of their family..including pets.

Should Children’s Games Have Built In Play Time Limits?

Most children’s games on the internet allow your child to have unlimited time to play. Your child has the ability to log on when they first wake up in the morning, and play to their heart’s content as long as they wish. That is until the parent steps in to tell them to stop.

What if children’s games came with time limits created within them?

While limiting your child’s play time on the computer is certainly not a bad thing, is it appropriate for a company to decide this for you and your child?

"Our Courts" A New Learning Game For Middle Schoolers

Georgetown Law School is collaborating with retired Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O'Connor and Professor James Paul Gee to create an online 'civics learning program for middle school students called Our Courts.

"Justice O’Connor was the first female Supreme Court Justice of the United States, serving as an Associate Justice beginning in 1981 and for nearly 25 years until she retired from the bench in January 2006.

Health Games Research Awarded $2 Million By Robert Wood Johnson Foundation

Rovert Wood Johnson Foundation has awarded a $2 million grant to help in Health Games Research. This research is dedicated to "the development and use of video games to improve players’ health behaviors and outcomes."

"Funded studies include motion-based games used to help stroke patients recover faster in physical therapy to virtual worlds that allow those in substance abuse treatment to practice skills and behaviors to prevent real-world relapses.
