Ten Ton Hamster

Kid Racer is an 8 year old computer gamer. He recently started playing Club Penguin, and I sat down with him the other day to talk to him about his adventures in the arctic tundra with his penguin.

TTH: Hi Kid Racer, thanks for sitting down with me today.
KR: Hi!

TTH: You have just recently started waddling around in Club Penguin. What are your first thoughts of the game so far?
KR: I really like it!

TTH: What color is your penguin?
KR: Red. Red is my favorite color!

TTH: What do you think of the mini-games?
KR: Some of them are pretty hard, some of them are pretty easy.

TTH: Which game is your favorite so far?
KR: The Mine Shaft race. It’s all about racing, but its hard!

TTH: What other things do you like to do here?
KR: Take my puffle for a walk. I enjoy buying things for my Puffle. My mom and I play games like Mancala, that’s a lot of fun. I enjoy reading the newspaper, it has contests in it for costumes and it looks just like the newspapers we get at home. I also like to decorate my igloo.

TTH: Speaking of your igloo, can we take a tour?
KR: Sure!

MMOK: Awesome It looks cool Can you tell me about the things you’ve put in your igloo.
KR: Well, I put a red balloon in it because it was cheap and its festive. I also bought a nice house plant to make the igloo look pretty. I got some things for my puffle too. He has a nice bed and a big play structure to keep him busy.

TTH: Thanks for giving me a tour of your igloo.
KR: You’re welcome. I am saving my coins so that I can upgrade to a deluxe candy igloo Once I get that, then I am going to get a bunch of furniture and other cool stuff for it. I can open up my igloo so that anyone can come visit. I can have parties for birthdays or Thanksgiving or Christmas.

TTH: Do you have a puffle?
KR: I sure do. I picked a blue puffle because he likes to play with balls, just like me!

TTH: Cute! Is it hard taking care of your puffle?
KR: It’s not now, but it will get harder.

TTH: What kinds of things do you do to take care of you puffle?
KR: I feed him and make sure it has water. I exercise him and keep him entertained. He likes to be active. I make sure he gets plenty of sleep too. I buy lots of toys for him so he doesn’t get bored.

KR: Let me show you my Halloween costume. It’s a bumble bee!
TTH: Wow! You look great

KR: I have a candy design for my background that the other kids see when they click on my penguin. I like buying clothes and wearing different outfits. They change the catalogs every month so there is always something new to get.

TTH: Any advice to new kids who are just starting to play?
KR: Remember to take care of your puffle or it will run away!
