What Parents Need To Know About La Tale

Posted August 29th, 2008 by Hanniel "Lumina" Shariat

La Tale is an online game with cute and colorful graphics. It has a fantastical story line with a clear distinction of good vs evil. All of the players are a part of that story and join together together to fight evil.

The first thing we were definitely impressed with was that although the game has anime inspired graphics, the characters are very cute and modest looking. As a matter of fact players themselves look like just like kids!

Overall the game seems to be designed for a younger crowd. Which is definitely a good thing. La tale is side-scrolling game which just means that it's very simple to navigate. You use arrows to move and letters to fight. It can't get more simple than that.

Like I mentioned before the main objective of the game is to fight evil by fighting all the different types of Monsters. Almost all of the monsters are cute little characters that are far from scary looking. The fighting itself is also very "kid friendly". Each player chooses what kind of fighter they want to be, warrior, knight, wizard etc. Then they choose which land they want to fight in. There are lots of magical and beautiful lands to choose from. The fighting itself has no blood, or gory graphics, the monster just falls to the ground and then disappears.

Although everything in La Tale is "kid friendly", we know that the main thing parents worry about is chat safety. We found that La tale has basic chat safety. Meaning that bad words spelled correctly are blocked and cannot be shown when typed in. However we did see inappropriate language on the chat one or two times. Kids using words that are not necessarily "bad" to make an inappropriate sentence or kids spelling a bad word differently. We didn't see anything too explicit being said though.

No matter what Ten Ton Hamster always recommends monitoring your child while their online as often as you can. Plus it's always a good idea to sit down with your child and teach them about online safety.

Actually, La Tale is the perfect game to play with your child. The fact that it's so easy to navigate, not only makes it "kid friendly" but it also makes it "parent friendly". Who knows you just might end up having a little bit of fun yourself!
