Solstice GM's

Questions by: Beth "Mesagirl" Ralston
Answers by: GM Break

The Ten Ton Hamster staff was able to catch up with Secret Of The Solstice GM Break to ask a few questions. They tell us about Guilds, Party's, the Xen twins, and they even gave us a screenshot of their GM Team. Enjoy reading all about it!

1.The twin girls in Xen are polar opposites. Do you get to choose how you adventure based on the twins? For example can you take a darker path to reach the same destination?

Secret of the Solstice follows the path of Princess Adeline, the sister of light, and the rebellion against the tyranny of Alastor and his wife Mariane. You begin the game by becoming a new recruit in this war, and training to become a Hero of Xen. As you train, you learn to defeat the evil monsters that inhabit the continent and as you choose your path of either Warrior, Cleric, Rogue, Mage, Archer, or Templar, you gain new skills and abilities.

From time to time, Alastor and Mariane appear in-game to lay siege to the cities, or attack the new recruits. They play major parts in the events along with Princess Adeline and General Drekard. Mariane herself has a small fan base from a subset of male players.

In the future of the game, we see factions of good and evil becoming an important part of the gameplay.

2. Can you tell us about the daily Game Master run events?

The Game Masters run various daily events, but we also have weekly, and monthly events. These events are announced on our monthly event calendar along with the requirements to participate and the prizes. We also have spontaneous events where monsters attack the city. If the players are successful in defending, an experience boost is given to the servers for a specific period of time.

Here are examples of some of the events that we run in Secret of the Solstice:

Solstice Survivor: A free for all PvP battle where everyone battles it out until there in only one left standing. Players are warped into an arena where they fight each other to the death. This is by far our most popular event, and has had many spin-offs such as Duels, Class of Destiny, and Class Battle.

Where’s Moonbear?: The Moonbear is a monster that inhabits the forest of Xen. GM rider has lost his pet Moonbear and players have to find it for him. When the Moonbear is spotted amongst the mob of other Moonbears, players must chase him until he stops. The first 5 players to find, and follow him win.

Other Events include:

Got Aloe?
Rider is lost …
Save Iceman!
Ga We Bo Tournament
Slap the GM
Amazing Adventure

3. Tell us a bit about the different skills: General, Scope, Sub Magic. What made you chose to do three separate skill sets?

In Secret of the Solstice, you begin as a Xenian, a new recruit into the war. When you reach level 16, you are then given the option to customize your character by choosing which class you want to be.

The Warrior is the melee fighter and tank of the party. He specializes in sword skills and special attacks. As a Squire he begins with simple slash attacks, and buff skills to increase damage. When he becomes a Warrior, his skills improve with status effects that stun, deal double damage, and area of effect sword slashes. The path from Warrior leads to Knight and then Warlord.

The Mage is the high impact damage dealer. In there arsenal is a wide range of elemental skills and buffs. From fire balls, to lightning storms, nothing can stop the flow of pure magic force. The Mage begins their journey as Aprentices, and move on to Mage, Wizard, and eventually Archmage.

The Acolyte is the essential support class using a range of heals and buffs. No party is complete without healing magic. Acolytes step up to Clerics, then Priests, and finally Paladins. As they progress through their training they develop more potent healing abilities, and learn to support with Holy Damage.

The Rogue use fast lightning attacks and cunning skills to hide from their enemies and evade attacks. As a neophyte he learns the basics: Hit fast and hide. As a Rogue he learns to become completely invisible from his opponents. When he becomes an Assassin and then a Shadow Master, he masters the arts of posion, and adds a variety of ranged weapons to his skills.

The Archer is the prestige class of the Rogue’s Guild. The Bow and the arrow is his life, and from afar he can snipe any foe. He uses his skill to infuse his arrows with awesome damage, and trains his mind to shoot with deadly accuracy. He begins as a Scout, and levels up to Archer, and finally he masters his skills and becomes a Ranger.

The Templar has forsaken his holy path to take up arms and fight against evil. Armed with devastating attacks and his shield and mace, evil cowers before his magic Force Blast and Chain Block. Starting as a Disciple he moves to Templar and then he becomes a Holy Avenger, the most powerful force on the continent of Xen.

4. What kind of benefits do you get from being in a guild?

The current guild system allows a group of players to band together under one name and emblem. Aside from your basic guild functions such as guild chat, they also have a guild storage and bank where the leaders can store items and divide them amongst their members.

The future of the guild system will include Guild PvP, the ability to level up your guild, as well as guild quests and dungeons.

5. Can you tell us more about the Party System? Talk about the Party Division Option.

The party system of Solstice allows for a maximum of 8 party members. Experience is increased by 10% and divided equally amongst the members, If the party contains one of each basic class, an extra 10% is added to the experience. If the party contains a Xenian as well, then another 10% is added.

The Party Division option is the allocation of loot picked up by party members as well as experience. Parties have the options of dividing items randomly or as free for all, and dividing experience per level or based on monster kills.

6. What is your favorite part of Secret of The Summer Solstice?

My favorite part of Secret of the Solstice is the community. The players in SotS have developed a close bond with each other as well as with the company. These players are our number one priority and we try our best to do whatever it takes to make this game better for them. Running around in game, and talking to the players, you will be mesmerized by the variety of costume combinations and pets chilling around the towns and talking to each other. If you go out to level, you are greeted by helpful players and parties eager to join you and level up. As you level and explore the maps, watch for Emoticons, which are graphic messages that the players can send to another for everyone to see. The Community is what makes Secret of the Solstice the game that it is today, and we will continue to service these players to the best of out abilities.

7. Is there anything else you'd like to share with your fans at Ten Ton Hamster?

Come on into to Secret of the Solstice and hang out! Join the events, meet the players and look for GM Break and GM rider. We’ll show you why Secret of the Solstice has the best gaming community.
