Most children’s games on the internet allow your child to have unlimited time to play. Your child has the ability to log on when they first wake up in the morning, and play to their heart’s content as long as they wish. That is until the parent steps in to tell them to stop.
What if children’s games came with time limits created within them?
While limiting your child’s play time on the computer is certainly not a bad thing, is it appropriate for a company to decide this for you and your child?
From my own personal standpoint, I do not feel it is appropriate for a company to make that decision. I have witnessed first hand how frustrated my own child gets when he has only played for a short while, only to have something occur in game that makes him have to stop playing, or limits where he can go in game.
What if your child works really hard and get’s A’s on their report card, and part of their reward is being allowed to play their favorite game. Then only to find that they can only play for a short period of time due to a limitation set by the game itself.
How do you feel about gaming companies putting in mechanisms that can limit your child’s play time? Should that solely be a parent’s choice or is it good to have some gaming companies put in time limitations?
