You can do two types of gardening at your estate; planting gag trees and growing flowers. To start gardening all you need to do is buy a gardening kit from Clarabelle’s Cattlelog. It only costs 50 beans to purchase and you get it in the mail almost immediately.
Take a look around your estate after you receive the kit. It should look different! Now you will have window boxes around your home to plant flowers, and 8 mounds of dirt located around the grounds of your estate where you’ll be able to plant your gag trees. Take a walk around and you’ll find your wheelbarrow. It’s located in the sandy area of your estate. At your estate, make sure to find the concrete stand where you can put various statues. These statues can be purchased from Clarabelle’s Cattlelog. The higher your gardening skill becomes, the more elaborate statues become available for you to purchase.
Take a peek at your Shticker Book. You’ll see a new tab has been added for gardening. Under your gardening tab is 4 other tabs.
★ Basket ~ holds the flowers that you’ve picked and their sell value. You can also see the progress you are making on your shovel and watering skills.
★ Album ~ keeps track of all the different types of flowers you have planted and picked.
★ Trophies ~ a display of all the gardening trophies that you earn.
★ Specials ~ holds the gardening statues that you have bought but not yet used at your estate.
Planting Gag Trees:
To start, make sure that you have purchased the gags that you want to grow from The Gag Shop. You’ll need them to plant the trees. To be able to plant a high level gag tree, you need to go in order starting by planting the lower level gags first. There are only 8 mounds in which to plant trees, so if you are planning on planting a level 7 gag tree, you’ll need to follow only one type of gag (throw, squirt, sound, etc), or you won’t have enough mounds to get to the level 7 tree. You can remove a gag tree at any time, replacing it with another type of gag.
You will soon see your tree’s grow and eventually they will produce gags. It takes 3 days per level of the gag before you will start to see them on the trees. Once grown, you can take these gags instead of going to a Gag Shop to buy them, which will save you jellybeans. There is another big bonus to growing your gag trees. The one’s you grow have bonus’ to them! These bonuses apply to the gags whether you’ve plucked them from your own tree or purchased them. Some of the bonuses are better accuracy, or a higher damage bonus.
Planting Flowers:
To plant flowers you will need jellybeans. Jellybeans are the seeds for your flowers. Walk over to your flower boxes. You’ll notice that the boxes have tiny dirt mounds in them. To start planting just walk up to one of the mounds and a menu will pop open. Choose plant flower, and another window will open asking you which jellybean you want to plant. Each jellybean will create a different flower, although some of the jellybeans will not create a flower on its own and can only be used in combinations. To start, you will only be able to choose one jellybean, but once you start getting your skill up, you will be able to start combining your jellybeans to make new flowers. The highest number of jellybeans you will be able to use in a combination is 8! That’s a lot of combinations to try to figure out!
Make sure to water your mound of dirt. It takes one day for your flowers to bloom. Once they have bloomed you can pick them and plant another jellybean. You will gain one shovel skill point every time you pick a flower of the highest jellybean combination that you can plant. So once you start planting two bean combinations, you will no longer get skill points for picking flowers that only take one bean to plant. Gaining shovel points will eventually open up the next level of flowers that you can plant. You will also be able to get sturdier shovels and put up bigger statues. The highest shovel that you can get is gold!
Watering:
Without water, your gag trees and your flowers will start to wither and eventually die. Make sure to water the plants at your estate once a day to start. All you need to do to water any of the plants is to walk up to them. A window will pop up giving you the choice to water that plant. For every plant that you water, you will receive a watering point. You will not get additional points for watering a plant more than once a day. The good news is, not only can you water the plants at your estate, but if you water plants at a friend’s estate, you can get watering points!
Just like with the shoveling points, the more watering points that you get, the bigger watering cans you’ll be able to use. Bigger watering cans will keep your plants hydrated for more days than the smaller cans. There are four sizes of can: small, medium, large and huge.
If you aren’t able to water your plants and everything dies, don’t fret! Simply start watering the mounds and watch your garden start to flourish. No need to replant!
Statues:
The statues have no real value to them. Use them to dress your estate up with, or impress your friends by showing it to them when they come visit your home. There are currently four different statues that you can purchase.
Now you should have all the tools you need to get outside and do a little gardening. Happy planting, and don’t forget to wear some sun screen!
