Animation Magazine reported that Nickelodeon, together with MTVN Kids and Family Group, plan on creating a whole host of virtual worlds for kids to enjoy! They reported that Nickelodeon will be "building on the success of such hit sites as Neopets and Nicktropolis. New online environments will be based on the network’s top-rated animated series SpongeBob SquarePants, as well as upcoming original properties including Monkey World (working title). In addition, a new virtual tentatively destination dubbed World of Neopia is in production and is expected to launch next year."




It's very exciting for SpongeBob and Monkey World fans to have a virtual world to play their favorite characters in. It will be interesting to see if children will be able to play their favorite characters like Patrick, Squidword, Plankton, or SpongeBob himself? They also mention the World of Neopia. Will this be a new and improved version of Neopets? We shall see!

There are several new things coming to Neopets and Nicktropolis so keep an eye out for these things:
"Over the next few months, Nicktropolis will add new environments such as a comic book store, a pirate-themed environment and an area dedicated to the new Nickelodeon animated series The Mighty B. In addition, Neopets, one of the world’s leading youth communities, will introduce PetPetPet Habitats, a desktop application deployed on Adobe AIR and focusing on such Neopets pets as fleas and other insects. "
